Iran Chess Player Warned Not To Return To Iran After Competing Internationally Without Hijab

An Iranian chess player is ‘stuck at the cliff of a mountain’ after she was reportedly warned not to return to Iran for refusing to put on a hijab while competing in an international tournament in Kazakhstan.

Sara Khademalsharieh in a bid to make a statement appeared at the at FIDE World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships on Monday, December 26, 2022, in Almaty, Kazakhstan without a hijab covering her hair.

After the event, a source revealed that Sara received numerous calls from unidentified individuals threatening her not to come back home to Iran. Others also called on Sara to return home so they can “solve her problem” for her.

The source added that Sara’s family back home also received a number of threats. To preserve her life, Sara according to Le Figaro is moved to Spain today, January 3, 2023.
