J.E Sarpong Cautions Kwesi Appiah Against Black Stars Job

One of Ghana’s seasoned coaches Joseph Emmanuel Sarpong has stated his opposition to former Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah’s third bid for the job.

Coach Kwesi Appiah’s application for the vacant Black Stars coaching job comes in the wake of the resignation of Otto Addo last December.

On Thursday, Appiah confirmed reports that he had applied for the job, causing many including Sarpong to question the rationale behind his third bid for the job.

He advised that looking at the circumstance under which he left the Black Stars job, he should be the last person to want to get involved with the people at the Ghana Football Association. He added that Kwesi Appiah should advise himself and get himself a role with one of the many clubs in the country and not be bent on handling the national team.

Coach Sarpong continued that considering the insult and abuse hurled at him in Egypt, it seems the former national team coach has not learned any lessons. He goes on to say, the chances of him being offered the job by the current administration are negligible.

Kwesi Appiah first managed the Black Stars from 2012 to 2014 and was in charge when the Black Stars competed in the World Cup in Brazil but was dismissed after the tournament.

His second stint was in 2017, which also lasted two years, as his contract was not renewed by the football association after Ghana failed to deliver at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
