Ghana Earned 350k German Deutschmark In A First Friendly With Germany In 1993 – Kojo Bonsu

Former Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly, Kojo Bonsu has disclosed that the Ghana Football Association (GFA) earned a hefty three hundred and fifty thousand German Deutschmarks in a 1993 friendly match between Ghana and Germany.

Kojo Bonsu who was then the West African representative for Adidas and the promoter of the said friendly match between Ghana and Germany has said the income generated from the friendly helped the GFA led by Nana Brew Butler at the time.

Germany defeated Ghana by a scoreline of six goals to one.

Mr. Bonsu was is seeking to be the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress made the revelation whiles appearing on the “Dwabre Mu” political show on CTV hosted by Nana Out Darko.

He stated that he started following the sport of football while he was still a student at the Tamale Secondary School in the Northern Region.

He said he was made the team manager of the school team and started following Kotoko at a young age and did not find it surprising when he was made team manager of the Black Stars.
