Nigerian Artistes Have Gradually Taken Over Highlife Music – Amakye Dede

Legendary Ghanaian Highlife singer, Dan Amakye Dede has revealed that Nigerian musicians have gradually taken the Highlife market away from Ghana even though it originated from here.

The veteran singer made the revelation during an interview on Kessben TV. According to him even though the music genre originated in Ghana, it has shifted to the side of the Nigerians.

“Well you know if I want to say it as it is I can boldly tell you that now Highlife has shifted to the side of Nigerians,” he said.

He added that even though it seems the genre he so loved and produced countless songs including his hit song, “Jealousy go shame” is dying. He, however, revealed that Highlife will forever live on.

“We brought the Highlife Music to Ghana because we were known fro that genre of music but now it’s like Highlife is dying but Highlife will never die”
