Andre Ayew has revealed the reason for 40 years AFCON drought for Ghana despite being on finals for three times.
According to the Black Starsa captain, the reason for 40 years AFCON drought for Ghana is lack of luck because the team has done incredibly well at the tournament.
“I wouldn’t say there is a problem, I think we have been unlucky and the last editions. I think we have the best African record of the team getting in the last four or the finals in the last 10 to 15 years,” he said at the pre-match press conference for the game against Morocco.
“I think we have been unlucky and we have to keep working hard and one day we will get there,” the Al Sadd winger added.
Ghana lost to the Ivory Coast on penalties in the1992 and 2015 AFCON, and were beaten 1-0 by Egypt in Angola 2010.
The Black Stars are seeking to end their 40 years AFCON drought by winning their 5th trophy, after winning their last trophy in 1982 in Libya.
Ghana will play their opener game against Morocco today, Monday, January 10, at 4PM before playing Gabon and Comoros respectively in the group stage.
