A depleted Black Stars side got the job done in South Africa as they secured qualification to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon with a game to spare.
CK Akonnor’s side struggled in the first half but a spirited second-half performance saw them earn a 1-1 draw against Bafana Bafana at the famous FNB stadium in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Kudus Mohammed – who registered his debut Ghana goal against South Africa in Cape Coast in 2019 – shot Black Stars in front with a brilliant strike in the 49th minute.
But the lead lasted for only two minutes as Percy Tau drew level after being left unmarked on the right-wing.
South Africans poured forward for the winner to no avail as Black Stars celebrated the draw at the end of the game.
However, it appears Ghanaians were not impressed with the performance of coach Charles Akonnor and his boys.

The Black Stars are playing like Asante Kotoko. No tactics, no game plan. SMH 🤦♂️

Majority of Ghanaians don’t even know the Black Stars are playing against South Africa today. Ghanaians have lost interest in the Black Stars for good. Trash football.

So CK actually called Baba Rahman.
I wonder the performance he watched from him before adding him to the squad— Ato_manny (@manuel_manuel92) March 25, 2021
In fact, start Gyasi, Ekuban and Kwame Poku wasn't necessary. The game plan was to sit back and hit them on the counter so we needed the wingers more. Putting the likes of Kwame Poku on the wings was bad
