Al Sadd manager Xavi Hernandez has heaped praise on Ghana captain Andre Ayew and his teammates after a strong second half performance earned them victory at Qatar SC.
Ayew began the fight back in the 63rd minute after cancelling Sebastien Soria’s 39th minute strike.
Brazilian Guilherme Dos Santos Torres gave Al Sadd the lead in the 78th minute, before Algerian forward Baghdad Bounedjah sealed victory for the champions.
“I am happy with the result. We played an excellent match against a good team. We managed to come back with our character in the second half, and this is what we always need,” said the former Barcelona player after the game.
“We used a lot of players and everyone is performing excellently, but we must play with the same performance throughout the match.”
Al Sadd will play Al Rayyan in the biggest fixture of the Qatari Stars League in their next game, and Xavi believes it will be a tricky one for his boys.
“We must take care of the recovery of the players, in preparation for the match against Al Rayyan. We are very excited about the Qatari Clasico. It will be a difficult match for sure, but my team is going through good moments,” said Xavi.
Andre Ayew joined Al Sadd in the summer transfer window after ending his stay with Swansea City.
