Born on 1 June 1959 in Hammersmith, London, Alan Charles Wilder was a former member of the electronic band Depeche Mode. He is a record producer, composer, arranger and musician from England.
He left the band in 1995 having been a member since 1982. His focus since leaving the band has been on Recoil, a musical project which he started in 1986 while he was still with Depeche Mode.
As a member of Depeche Mode, Alan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2020. He has worked with bands like Curve and Nitzer Ebb as a producer and remixer.
Wilder, through his parents encouragements, started taking piano lessons at the age of eight. He is a musician with classical training.
