Alexander Zverev Parents: Alexander Zverev Sr., Irina Zvereva

Alexander “Sascha” Alexandrovich Zverev is a German professional tennis player.

He has been ranked by the Association of Tennis Professionals as high as world No. 3, and since July 2017, he has been a permanent fixture in the top 10.

Zverev’s career highlights include titles at the 2018 and 2021 ATP Finals and a gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

He has won 19 ATP singles titles and two doubles titles. His first major final was at the 2020 US Open. He finished second to Dominic Thiem. Zverev, the only active player, has five Masters 1000 titles.

Zverev was a former junior world No. 1. He won the 2014 Australian Open junior Grand Slam singles title. He was also a pioneer on the professional tour, and at 17 he became one of the youngest Challenger title winners in history.

Zverev, as a teenager, won two ATP titles. He also upset the then-world No. 3 Roger Federer on grass. He was 20 years old and became the youngest player to make it into the top 20 since Novak Djokovic.

Zverev played a key role in Team Europe’s initial success at the Laver Cup. He won the clinching matches in 2018 as well as 2019.

Zverev ended Carlos Alcaraz’s run at the 2022 French Open as the No. 3 seed reached the semi-finals for the second successive year with a hard-fought 6-4 6-4 4-6 7-6(7) victory.

In 1991, Zverev and his wife, professional tennis player Irina Zvereva, relocated to Germany. They are parents to tennis players Alexander and Mischa who both represent Germany on the ATP Tour.

She was born on April 11, 1967, in Sochi, Russia.
