Armand Gustav “Mondo” Duplantis is a Swedish-American pole vaulter and the current world record holder with a height of 6.21 metres and the current Olympic champion and World champion.

He was born on November 10, 1999, in Lafayette, Louisiana, United States.

Duplantis won gold as a 15-year-old in the boys’ pole vault at the 2015 World Youth Championships and holds a number of age group world bests.

Armand won the gold medal at the 2018 European Championships with a height of 6.05 metres (19 ft 10 in) (a new under-20s world record), and the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships.

Duplantis has also won the 2020 Diamond League and the 2021 European Indoor Championships, setting Championship Bests at both.

He won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo in 2021. He became world champion at the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships, and later also world champion at the 2022 World Athletics Championship.

In 2020, Duplantis was voted World Athletics Male Athlete of the Year.

On July 24, the 22-year-old Swedish Olympic athlete broke his own world record yet again, at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene by recording a jump of 6.21 m (20 ft 4+1⁄2 in).
