AS Roma coach José Mourinho has decided to give young Ghanaian forward Felix Afena-Gyan more chances, as per Italian Corrieredellosport’s website.
The 18-year-old is still to be promoted officially to the first squad, however he has played two times. He debuted against Cagliari and then followed it up by making his first appearance at the Stadio Olympico, where he faced AC Milan.
In both of the games, Afena-Gyan impressed the former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager, who has decided to have him involved in regular first-team games.
Mourinho has reportedly informed the U19 manager Alberto De Rossi, whose team relies so heavily on their youngster. Six goals have been scored by him, making him the leading goalscorer for the U19 league.
Ohene Gyan’s growth rate has shocked many, not least his agent Oliver Arthur, who took him to Italy.
The striker started the season in Wenchi, which is a town in Ghana’s Bono region. He played on hard-sandy pitches. He is expected to finish the year after making his debut as an ex-Italian champion and is being taught with one of the top football coaches, José Mourinho.
