Athing Mu is an American middle-distance runner. She was born on June 8, 2002, to South Sudanese parents. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, she won a gold medal in the 800 meters at the age of 19, shattering both a national and a continental under-20 record set in 2017 by Ajeé Wilson.
Mu was a member of the 4×100 m relay team, which won the gold medal in Tokyo. Early in 2021, she ran the women’s indoor 800 m in 1 minute, 58.40 seconds, setting the global under-20 record.
Mu is the holder of the indoor 600-meter world under-20 record, which she achieved in 2019 at the age of 16. Her time of 1:23.57 ranks as the second-fastest run in an indoor event by an American woman.
Athing Mu Husband: Is Athing Mu Married?
The two-time Olympic gold medalist has been reportedly dating fellow American sprinter Brandon Miller since the Tokyo Olympics. The two met during their time at Texas A&M University, although Mu has since foregone her three remaining years of eligibility to become a professional athlete.
The 20-year-old is however not married and is fully focused on her track career.
