Be Brave And Justify To Gov’t Why It Is Necessary To Invest In Football’ – George Afriyie to GFA

Renowned football administrator George Afriyie has called on the current administration to be brave and justify to the government why it must invest in football.

This he thinks will help strengthen Ghana’s local football economy and push clubs from the country to do well on the African continent.

The former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice president was speaking at Asempa FM’s Sports Dialogue on how to attract fans to the local league venues.

He said the government has a significant role in reviving the local football economy when asked if it has a role to play in this regard. He stressed that it is about time the FA became brave and justified to the government why it has to invest in the GPL as a product.

George Afriyie stated that if FC Samartex qualifies and they are to represent Ghana in Africa, they are doing so in the name of Ghana, not Samartex as an individual club.

He asked why the government is not interested in how the club is developing to reach that level of representing the country in Africa.
