German forward Thomas Muller has sent a straight message to Barcelona prior to the Champions League clash at the Alianz Arena in Munich.
Muller was hoping that his teammate Robert Lewandowski will come out with the top prize during the Ballon d’Or gala held in France just a day ago, but it wasn’t the case.
The Golden ball was rather handed to former Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, a situation which doesn’t mean anything to Muller to any extent and demands his team to do all they can to win the Champions League to show the world what German football can provide.
The next match is against Messi’s former team, FC Barcelona and despite already having qualified, Thomas Müller revealed they will be making an explicit declaration to the football world.
“What happened at the Ballon D’Or is unfortunate, similar to 2013. This has motivated me to do everything to bring the Champions League back to Munich and show the world what German football can offer, and the next opportunity to prove it is the match against Barcelona” he stated
In the meantime, Barcelona is desperate to stay out of defeat if they want to get a chance to make it through and with Muller’s anger, the team is likely to be able to get Messi to give his Ballon d’Or in the hands of Lewandowski or be prepared to enter the Europa League.
