Bill Self Wife: Meet Cindy Self. Billy Eugene Self Jr. is an American basketball coach who was born on December 27, 1962, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, United States.
He is the head men’s basketball coach at the University of Kansas, a position he has held since 2003.
He has led the Jayhawks to 16 Big 12 regular-season championships during his 19 seasons as head coach, including a share of an NCAA record 14 consecutive Big 12 regular season championships. Some of these championships were shared between 2005-2018.
He also led the Jayhawks’ four NCAA Final Four appearances (2008, 2012, 2018, 2022, the 2008 NCAA championship and the 2022 NCAA championship.
Self was inducted into 2017’s Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Self had the 19th-most successful Division I coach in NCAA history, and the 6th active head coach, at the end of the 2020-21 season. He is second in Kansas history behind Hall of Famer Phog Alley.

Self and Cindy met in the year 1984 after a lost to Kansas. Both attended Oklahoma State University, a public land-grant research university in Stillwater, Oklahoma. They dated for four years before they tied the knot in 1988.
Cindy is passionate about helping children. She has her master’s degree in elementary education and has been very active in charity, which led her and Self to found the ASSISTS foundation in 2006, which focuses on helping the community’s youth, according to PlayerWags.com.
Self and Cindy are blessed with two children, a daughter (Lauren Self) and a son (Tyler Self).
