Black Meteors Return Home After 1-1 draw With Algeria In Annaba

Ghana’s Black Meteors have returned home after being held to a 1-1 draw with Algeria at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba on Friday night.

The first half of yesterday’s match was played on a very cautious note though both sides had chances to be on the scoresheet but failed to do so.

After the recess, the host country Algeria was handed a penalty which Ghana’s goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim kept out to keep the scoreline in the balance.

Black Meteors’ forward Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a Puskas-worthy goal from the center circle with a powerful shot that nestled into the Algerian net.

Later in the match, Ghana’s Olympics football team conceded an injury-time penalty which the host took advantage of and drew parity on the day.
The team return early to start preparations for the second leg, which is slated for Tuesday, 28 March 28, at the Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi.

The winner of the two legs will advance to the Morocco U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.
