Jamie Spears, Britney Spears’ father, has refuted allegations that her bedroom was bugged while she was under conservatorship.
Jamie Spears has responded to claims made in the documentary The New York Times Presents: Controlling Britney Spears, which claimed that while he was in charge of the conservatorship that oversaw the pop star’s life for more than ten years, recording devices were used to keep tabs on the singer’s activities at her California home.
Jamie stated: “I am informed of the allegation … that a listening device or “bug” was placed [in] her bedroom as surveillance during the conservatorship. This allegation is false.”
“I never conducted or authorized any surveillance of Britney’s bedroom at any time, including during the conservatorship. I am not aware of any such surveillance having occurred,” he added.
Jamie Spears also stated that if he had been sworn in as a witness he could testify that he was telling the truth.
