Cal Foote, the American-born Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman, currently plays for the New Jersey Devils in the NHL. Drafted by the Kelowna Rockets in the second round of the 2013 WHL bantam draft, he spent two seasons with the Colorado Thunderbirds before making his WHL debut in the 2015–16 season.

In his draft year, Foote impressed with 57 points in 71 games for the Kelowna Rockets. The Tampa Bay Lightning selected him in the first round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft with the 14th overall pick. Foote became the eighth Kelowna Rockets player in team history to be drafted in the first round.

Foote made his NHL debut on January 13, 2021, in a 5–1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks, and on January 30, he scored his first NHL goal and point against the Nashville Predators. His first NHL assist came on March 25, 2021.

During the 2022–23 season, Foote contributed one goal and two assists in 26 regular-season games for the Lightning before being traded to the Nashville Predators on February 26, 2023, along with five future draft picks, in exchange for Tanner Jeannot.

Following a brief stint with the Predators, Foote signed a one-year, two-way contract with the New Jersey Devils on August 9, 2023. However, on January 24, 2024, the Devils announced that Foote, along with forward Michael McLeod, had been granted indefinite leaves of absence from the team.
