Canadian Singer Jacob Hoggard Convicted For Sexual Assault

Canadian singer and frontman of the band, Hedley, Jacob Hoggard has been found guilty of sexual assault and causing bodily harm to an Ottawa woman.

The 37-year-old was found guilty of sexual interference for sexually touching a girl under the age of 16.

According to prosecutors, Hoggard grouped the girl (Ottawa woman) when she was only 15 after a show in Toronto in April 2016.

He was also accused of raping her in a hotel in the area after she had turned 16 later in the same year.

The woman in question testified that she was bruised and left bleeding after the rape.

At a point, the Ottawa woman said that Hoggard slapped, spit in her mouth and called her names. She also alleged that the singer choked her.

Hoggard said to the court that his memories of the encounter weren’t clear however, he explained that he made sure he was responsible and did not break the law at the time, adding that the encounter was consensual.
