Charles Louis Trippi was born on14 December 1921 in Pittston, Pennsylvania.
He was an American football player who played as a running back but was so versatile that he could as a quarterback, defensive back, punter, and return specialist.
Trippi’s father was an Italian immigrant coal miner. He took to sports to avoid working in the laborious coal mines.
He attended Pittston Area High School where he played football as a tailback.
He played collegiate football for the University of Georgia.
Trippi was one of only four University of Georgia football players to have his jersey number retired.
He went into the real estate business after he had served as an assistant coach with the Cardinal after his playing career ended.
The Pro Hall of Famer died on 19 October 2022 at the age of 100 in Athens, Georgia of natural causes.

Charles Jr. Tripp, Brenda Trippi, and Jo Ann Trippi are the three children of Charley Trippi.
All three children were born to him by his first wife Virginia Davies who died in 1971.
