Trippi was a quarterback but was so versatile that he easily played as a quarterback, defensive back, punter, and return specialist.
The Cardinals selected him first overall as a “future pick” in the 1945 NFL Draft.
He served in the United States army during the Second World War.
Trippi served as an assistant coach with the Cardinals after his playing career.
He also ventured into the real estate business.
He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1968.
Trippi died on 19 October 2022 of natural causes at the age of 100.
He died in Athens, Georgia.
