The Ghana Card is a national identification card issued by Ghanaian authorities to Ghanaian citizens, both residents and non-residents. It can also be used for legally and permanently resident foreign nationals.
According to the government, this card will be so powerful that it can be used for almost all things that require proof of identity, including healthcare assessment.
The Ghana Card can also be used to verify one’s identity for a SIM card, passport purchase, education, job search, and many other purposes. Any SIM not registered with Ghana Card by March 31, 2022, will be removed from the system.
Ghc250 for the premium service. A few centres offer free service to potential clients, but they are not all. The National Identification Authority announced the locations where everyone can get a Ghana Card free of charge.
At the districts, the identity card can be requested. It is free for all Ghanaians. After 15 days, the card must be collected in person by the bearer, who will need to identify himself/herself using his/her fingerprints.
The National Identification Authority (NIA) has launched an online process for issuing Ghana Cards to individuals. The process involves submitting the paper document to the NIA office. The NIA shut down the registration site just 24 hours after it was launched online. Their servers couldn’t handle the volume of requests that were coming in.
