Hakim Ziyech was given a rapturous welcome when he joined the Moroccan national team’s camp for the upcoming friendly games against Ghana and Burkina Faso after helping Chelsea win the UEFA Champions League.
Ziyech enjoyed an instant success at the London-based club following his summer switch from Ajax Amsterdam, having cost the Blues £37 million.
Despite struggling for game time, Ziyech managed 39 appearances, scoring six goals and registering four assists.
Chelsea defeated Manchester City 1-0 in the final of the UEFA Champions League a few weeks ago.
The Dutch-born winger joined the Atlas Lions’ at the Mohammed VI Football Center in Maamoura, as they put finishing touches to the doubleheader friendlies against Ghana and Burkina Faso.
The players of the Moroccan national team, led by coach Vahid Halilhodzic, celebrated the player’s success at Chelsea in the just ended season.
President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation Faouzi Lekja who was also in attendance believes Ziyech’s triumph would lift the morale in camp ahead of the friendly games.
Morocco will engage the Black Stars of Ghana in a friendly game on Tuesday.
The North African giants will continue with another friendly against Burkina Faso on Saturday, June 12, 2021.
