Ghana coach, Chris Hughton has decided to keep his decision as to which of his three goalkeepers will start in goal for the Black Stars game against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers later today, close to his chest.
The Black Stars will take on the Palancas Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium in an AFCON qualifier doubleheader.
Former number one goalkeeper Joseph Wollacott has returned to the squad having missed out on the 2022 World Cup due to injury.
Lawrence Ati-Zigi who deputized for Wollacot, played in his stead at the World Cup in Qatar where he conceded seven goals in three World Cup matches. Ati-Zigi plies his trade for St. Gallen.
Ghana’s third-choice goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen is also in line to start the game.
Chris Hughton was not keen on revealing to the media who his first choice will be as he faced the media in a pre-match conference where he asked supporters and the media alike to remain calm until he reveals his starting eleven.
He stressed that he can’t tell it at the moment but he will name his team on matchday and we will all see who is starting tomorrow against Angola.
Kickoff is at 4 pm local time while the reverse fixture is on 27 March in Luanda, Angola.
