Former Black Stars player, Augustine Arhinful has said that the newly appointed Black Stars coach, Chris Hughton will be successful if allowed to work with a free hand.
Chris Hughton was appointed as the replacement for Otto Addo who was until last December the head coach of the senior men’s national team.
Otto Addo left the Black Stars coaching job to focus on his career with German giants Borussia Dortmund as a talents development coach, after Ghana’s early exit at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Following Hughton’s appointment, Arhinful is expectant that with his time spent with the team, he would handle some challenges with tact.
He is of the view that the former Tottenham Hotspurs manager has what it takes to lead the Black Stars, and that he is the right man for the job.
Arhinful told Citi Sports that Chris Hughton’s experience as a former football turned coach, and who has coached at the highest levels will come in handy in his work as Ghana coach.
Chris Hughton, before his appointment as head coach of the Ghana Black Stars, was the technical director of the team.
He will take charge of his first official match against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers scheduled for next month.
