Pine had his high school education at the Oakwood School and went to earn a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of California, Berkeley where he became a member of the UC Berkeley Theater Department.
He attended the Williamstown Theatre Festival after graduating from UC Berkeley; he also studied at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.
In 2003, Pine had his first acting role in an episode of ER; he also featured in episodes of The Guardian and CSI: Miami. He has gone on to feature in films such as The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Quantum Quest: A Cassini Space Odyssey, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, and Hell or High Water among many others.
