Chris Rock Admits He Turned Down Offer To Host Oscars 2023 Due Will Smith Slap

Chris Rock has revealed that he turned down an offer to return to the stage and host next year’s Oscars because of the unfortunate incident that saw fellow actor Will Smith smacking him in the face earlier this year.

According to reports, Chris made the revelation at a recent standup comedy show. The 57-year-old comedian made a joke about the murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and related to his own ordeal saying that returning to the stage would literally translate to his return to the scene of the crime.

Chris Rock and Will Smith made news earlier this year after an ‘altercation’ between them marred the 2022 edition of the Academy Awards.

Will Smith climbed on stage and smacked Chris Rock in the face after the latter passed a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith likening her to the bald character in the 1997 action film G.I Jane.
