The late Ghana winger Christian Atsu’s mortal remains arrived in Ghana today, Sunday, February 19.
The Black Stars winger was found dead by rescue workers in areas hit by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Turkey on Saturday.
The lifeless body of the player was found 12 days after the earthquake occurred in Turkey, which brought down the story-building apartment he was residing in at the time of the disaster.
Christian Atsu’s remains were put on a flight with tributes pouring from all over the world in his remembrance.
After several hours, the remains of the player safely arrived in Ghana.
The winger’s corpse was handed over to the government of Ghana through the burial party of the Ghana Armed Forces.
He was taken away by military officers after prayers were offered for him in the presence of some family members and a section of the Ghanaian populace.
According to H.E Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who is Ghana’s Vice President, Christian Atsu will be given a befitting burial.
