Chulpan Nailevna Khamatova PAR is a Russian film, theater and TV actress of Volga Tatar origin. Her name, Chulpan, means “morning star” in Tatar.
Khamatova has appeared in many German-language films, as well as numerous Russian feature films and TV series.
Her international fame is due to her role in Good Bye, Lenin! (2003), as Lara, the girlfriend of the main character and his mother’s nurse.
She was on the six-person jury that was led by Catherine Deneuve, at the Venice Film Festival in 2006.
She took part and become winner of the Channel One figure skating competition Ice Age in 2007 together with Roman Kostomarov (professional ice dancer).
Khamatova was born on October 1, 1975, in Kazan, Tatar ASSR, Soviet Union (now Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia).
