Club Brugge manager Philippe Clement has described the performance of Ghanaian winger Kamal Sowah as top notch in UEFA Champions League opening day draw against a star-studded PSG.
Sowah produced a fine performance as the Belgium champions held a Messi-Mbappe-Neymar team on Wednesday night.
After a brilliant debut in the league against Ostende, the 21-year-old followed up with a strong 90 minute display.
“I am very proud of my players, they have played a very strong match physically and mentally. We start well, but then swallow a goal in the fifteen minutes. What makes me especially satisfied is the reaction of my players,” said the manager after the game.
“Lang, De Ketelaere, Vanaken, Sowah, … I actually have to go through the entire list of players. You can only achieve such a performance if everyone is top notch, that was the case,” he added.
Although he praised the team for their resilient display, Philippe Clement add the philosophy of the team was on full display.
“This is our philosophy, that’s how we want to play every match. If I have to be critical, I’m bound to say that the efficiency has to be even higher,” he said.
Club Brugge will next face German side RB Liepzig before a much anticipated game against Manchester City in Group A of the UEFA champions League.
“The other teams have been notified, there are still five finals coming up and we have to be ready for that. I don’t think this group should set any limits. Let’s dream and then we’ll see where we end up. This was already a great achievement,” said Clement.
