Conrad Janis was an American jazz trombonist and actor. He was best known for his role as Mindy McConnell’s father Frederick on television’s Mork & Mindy.
Janis was born in Manhattan on the 11th of February 1928. His father, Sidney, was a writer and art dealer; His mother, Harriet (Grossman), was also a writer.
He had a brother, Carroll. Janis had a successful audition for a travel company at 13 years old and subsequently spent the following two years with them. He also began radio voice-overs in the same period.
