Dafne Schippers, who was born on June 15, 1992 in Utrecht, Netherlands, is a Dutch track and field athlete.
Schippers earned the bronze medal in the heptathlon at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, tumbling across the line after shaving seven seconds off her personal best in the 800 metres to beat off Briton Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Germany’s Claudia Rath.
She became the first Dutch woman to win a medal in the hepthatlon at the World Athletics Championships.
In 2011, at the World Championships in Daegu, South Korea, she broke the Dutch national record in the 200 m heats in 22.69 seconds before placing 9th in the semifinals, missing the final by 0.04 seconds.
She was given the opportunity to compete in the famous heptathlon Hypo-Meeting in Götzis, Austria, in 2012, where she placed fifth. In 2012, she also participated in the European Athletics Championships in Helsinki (Finland). She placed fifth in the 200-meter race.
She had the quickest semi-final time of 22.70 and won her heat in 23.01, therefore the race was disappointing. The Dutch 4×100 m relay team, which included Kadene Vassell, Schippers, Eva Lubbers, and Samuel, finished second to the German team in 42.80, a national record.
