Daphne Pirie was a nationally ranked Australian athlete, hockey player, and golfer, and a sports administrator and world-ranked Masters Athlete.
She was awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to hockey in the year 1989.
As the first female vice-president of the Queensland Olympic Council, Pirie received the International Olympic Committee Women and Sport trophy for Oceania in the year 2011.
Pirie was named a Queensland Great on Queensland Day in the year 2012 and made an Officer of Australia for her contributions to sport administration, hockey, and advocacy for women and girls involved in sport.
She died on April 1, 2022, at the age of 90.
