Dawson Alan Knox was born on November 14, 1996, in Brentwood, Tennessee, USA. He attended St. Paul Christian Academy and Brentwood Academy in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Dawson Knox was a wide receiver and quarterback in high school. He enrolled at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) as a walk-on fullback in 2015 and played college football there until 2018.
