Derek Sanderson Jeter was born on June 26, 1974. He is a former professional baseball shortstop, businessman, and baseball executive. In his 20-year playing career in Major League Baseball, Jeter played exclusively with the New York Yankees.
2020 saw his induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame. From September 2017 to February 2022, he served as the Miami Marlins’ chief executive officer and a partial owner of the team.
In addition to being chosen for 14 All-Star teams, he has won a Roberto Clemente Award, two Hank Aaron Awards, five Gold Glove Awards, five Silver Slugger Awards, and five Gold Glove Awards.
In terms of career hits in MLB history, Jeter completed his career ranked sixth overall and first among shortstops. He was the 28th player to reach 3,000 hits. His uniform number was retired by the Yankees in 2017.
