Richard Bruce Cheney was born on 30 January 1941 in Lincoln, Nebraska. He is an American politician and businessman.
He served as the 46th vice president of the United States under President George W. Bush.

Cheney attended Calvert Elementary School and Natrona County High School, the latter after his family had moved to Casper, Wyoming from Nebraska. He enrolled at Yale University but dropped due to challenges he had with adjusting to college life.

Later he went on to earn a bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degree at the University of Wyoming.
Cheney’s foray into politics began as an intern for Congressman William A. Steiger. He would go on to become White House Chief of Staff and a six-time congressman.

Cheney served as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Halliburton from 1 October 1995 to 25 July 2000. He resign from his position upon his being announced as the vice presidential pick by President George W. Bush.
