Novak Djokovic is a professional tennis player from Serbia. He was born on 22 May 1987 in Belgrade. He began playing tennis at the tender age of four after he was gifted a mini –racket and softball by his father.
Djokovic was then sent to a tennis camp in Novi Sad by his parents. Novak began his international career at the age of 14 winning European championships in singles, doubles, and team competitions. He turned professional in 2003.
When Novak was 20, he broke the stranglehold of the Federer-Nadal duopoly on the men competition when he won his first Grand Slam title at the 2008 Australian Open.
Djokovic would go on to win 20 Grand Slam singles titles, including a record 9 Australia Open title. He has won 87 ATP singles titles.
He has been world number 1 for a record total, 371. Djokovi is currently ranked number 1.
