Emma McKeon Parents: Susie McKeon, Ron McKeon

Emma Jennifer McKeon was born 24 May 1994 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. She is an Australian swimmer and a four-time world record holder in the 4×100 meter freestyle relay.

McKeon became the most decorated Olympian in the history of Australia with a record of 11 Olympic medals. She has 17 medals in her trophy cabinet from her winnings at the World Aquatics Championships and 12 medals at the Commonwealth Games.

McKeon had her high school education at the Illawarra Grammar School and went on to study for a bachelor’s degree in public health and health promotion at Griffith University.

Emma comes from a family of competitive swimmers and Olympians. Michael Bohl is currently coaching her. She competes in the freestyle and butterfly stroke events.

In 2022, Emma was honored by Queen Elizabeth II with a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for “significant service to swimming as Gold Medallist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games”.

Ron was a two-time Olympian for Australia—in 1980 and 1984—and he won four gold medals at the Commonwealth Games, including gold medals in the 200 and 400 freestyle in 1978.

Susie was also a swimmer who swam at the Commonwealth Games in 1982 for Australia.
They coached Emma and her brother David in their early swimming careers.
