English Premier League team Everton has expressed their interest in Ghana midfielder Iddrisu Baba during the January transfer window.
The midfielder has been a frequent desire of Everton manager Rafael Benitez, who came close to signing him while he was at Real Madrid.
The deal was unable to go through due to a disagreement between Los Blancos and his representatives.
Then he was identified as a possible replacement in place of Thomas Partey at Atlético Madrid, however, Real Mallorca inserted a new clause into his contract, making his cost prohibitive to the club’s Rojiblancos.
Baba signed a new contract with the release clause set at 45million euros.
Everton is set to release the amount needed to bring in the Ghanaian player on Merseyside in January. They will continue to inquire regarding the availability of Baba Iddrisu.
As of now, Real Mallorca is considering South African Njabulo Blom as replacement for the Black Stars midfielder should he be released.
The Ghanaian midfielder netted his first goal for Real Mallorca over the weekend in the 1-1 draw with Cadiz.
