Ewan McGregor, who played Obi-Wan Kenobi, recently spoke out about the dissolution of his marriage to Eve Mavrakis and the impact it had on his children.
In January 2017, the actor, 51, and his wife of 22 years, Eve, 56, announced their separation. The couple has four children together: Clara, 26, Jamyan, 20, Esther, 19, and 10-year-old Anouk.
Then, Ewan started dating his 37-year-old Fargo co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Laurie, their 10-month-old baby, and the couple recently got married.
Before the actress’s divorce from her spouse Riley Stearns in May 2017 after seven years of marriage, Ewan and Mary had their first encounter on the set of their TV show Fargo in 2016. Ewan, the star of Doctor Sleep, later filed for divorce after divorcing his wife Eve in January 2017.
Prior to finalizing the divorce in the summer of 2020, he submitted a request to be recognized as legally single.
Despite maintaining a largely private existence, Ewan has recently opened out on the impact his marriage breakdown had on his children’s lives. Clara had previously expressed her displeasure at the split and called Mary Elizabeth a “piece of trash” on social media.
Ewan made an appearance on the first of four British GQ covers honoring GQ Heroes, which was released today and said “A divorce in a family is a bomb going off in everyone’s life – my children’s lives. The sort of healing of that is ongoing.”
