The 42-year-old, who was capped 22 times, played at the 2007 World Cup in France and scored a try against the hosts to help Argentina finish third, was shot dead on March 19, 2022, in Boulevard Saint-Germain, Paris, France. He was killed in a drive-by shooting in Paris, according to L’Equipe.
The French publication reported that he had taken part in an early morning disagreement in a bar with a group of people. They then returned in a car and killed him.
An investigation into the murder has been launched by the authorities from the Paris prosecutor’s office. The office said that suspects have not yet been located.
