Felix Afena-Gyan Is Not Ready For Black Stars – Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan has requested additional time for AS Roma forward Felix Afena Gyan before inviting him to join the Black Stars.

The 18-year-old has recently turned down an offer to be part of the Black Stars for 2022’s World Cup qualifiers against Ethiopia and South Africa earlier this month.

The Ghana Football Association stated the player was not available for the doubleheader.

As per reports, Felix Afena-Gyan was rebuffed the offer in response to advice given by his managers to concentrate on his career at the club side and further development in the hands of José Mourinho.

Afena Gyan was the center of attention this weekend, scoring two goals to assist AS Roma beat Genoa 2-0 in the Serie A.

His rapid rise has resulted in requests being invited to join the Black Stars ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

But, the all-time top scorer of the Black Stars, Asamoah Gyan believes that Afena-Gyan will need time to grow and may not be fit enough for the national team at this time.

For now we should support him. He needs confidence, start scoring and play more matches. In this country there is no time, they don’t care whatever you are going through as long as they see you playing,” Asamoah Gyan told Asempa FM.

Asamoah Gyan has also stated that the Ghanaian teenager could also be subject to pressure due to having an initial Gyan.

For funny reasons, the name Gyan will even put pressure on him. If he goes somewhere they may compare him to me which may also bring a lot of pressure as well.

Afena-Gyan, who burst out on the stage, has played in four games with two scoring goals in the final game for AS Roma in the ongoing season.
