Coach Yaw Acheampong, a former Ghana international has stated his views on the call-up made by new Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton ahead of the encounter with Angola.
The former technical advisor to the Black Stars announced his first-ever twenty-five-man Ghana squad on Thursday.
The squad list excludes the likes of Baba Rahman, Elisha Owusu, Daniel Kofi Kyereh, and Alidu Seidu who are all injured.
However, Danlad Ibrahim, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, and Daniel Afriyie Barnieh were dropped from the squad. All seven players represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.
Yaw Acheampong said he is not in the position to say Hughton has not called the best players but rather he prefers to say the coach invited players he feels can give him results because coaching is results driven.
Using himself as an example, he said if he were invited to the national team it would raise eyebrows so the most important thing to do at the moment is to support the coach.
Chris Hughton will be in Ghana’s dugout for the first time as head coach on 23 March when again takes on Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium
