George Afriyie Vows To Quit Football If GPL Clubs Surrender Power To Autonomous League Committee

George Afriyie, a former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has expressed his reservation about the proposed surrender of the Ghana Premier League club’s power to the autonomous league committee.

He disclosed that the Statutes Review Committee’s proposal if approved by Congress will lead to him quitting football.

He said he has heard that the statutes review committee has proposed an autonomous league where the membership of the premier division clubs will give their powers to the body called autonomous committee which will have a membership of five who will represent the premier division clubs in decision making at the congress, but is hoping the rumors he had heard are not true.

George Afriyie said if the said recommendations are approved by congress, he will quit football. He made the pronouncements while speaking in an interview with Original FM.

There are expectations that the Ghana Premier League will go autonomous from next season going.
The autonomous committee will run the Ghana Premier League if the proposal is approved.
