Ghana defender and Columbus Crew captain Jonathan Mensah has been named in the Major League Soccer team of the week after a solid display over the weekend.
The defender who turned 31 this month netted the winner as the Gold and Blacks defeated Atlanta United at the Mercedes Stadium on Saturday.
Mensah was in top form and made the most clearances (14) in the game, keeping the attackers of Atlanta United at bay.
The former Ghana U-20 player is having another fine campaign after leading Crew to the MLS championship last season.
He signed a new deal before the end of last season, and he is expected to play a pivotal role at the Ohio base club.
His compatriot Harrison Afful missed the match on Saturday, but he is expected to return for the clash in New York against New York City FC.
Columbus Crew are fourth in the Eastern Conference of the Major League.
