Diminutive Ghana defender, Tariq Lamptey will miss the two matches against Angola in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers this month.
The young defender was replaced early in his team’s match against West Ham on Saturday, he is believed to have sustained a knee injury and is expected to miss the two matches for Ghana.
Ghana will play host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on March 23 before honoring the return leg in four days in Luanda.
The Black Stars will be hoping to consolidate their stay at the top in the qualifiers.
After two matches, Ghana is at joint top of Group E alongside Angola with both teams earning four points after two games.
In spite of Lamptey’s early exit, his side went on to defeat their opponents by a 4-0 margin.
Lamptey completed a nationality switch to the West African country in June.
He represented Ghana at the FIFA men’s World Cup in Qatar.
