Ghana’s legend Asamoah Gyan has praised Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew, despite him struggling to score goals for both his club and nation.
The last time Jordan scored for the Ghana national team was in an AFCON qualifier against São Tomé in last year March, and has scored just a goal in a year for Crystal Palace in the English Premier League.
However, the former Black Stars captain has praised Jordan, despite his poor scoring rate.
“Well, Jordan (Ayew) is also doing so well for Crystal Palace, although the goal scoring has not been coming recently, but his contributions for Palace has been excellent,” said Gyan to CAFonline.
“I think we’ve a lot of great players, young players who can also deliver in this TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations,” he added.
Ghana is currently on the bottom of the Group C table with just a point, and they need to win the Comoros game by all means to quality for the round of 16 after losing their first game by 1-0 to Morocco and drawing 1-1 to Gabon in their 2nd match.
The Black Stars are seeking to end their 40 years AFCON drought by winning their 5th trophy, after winning their last trophy in 1982 in Libya.
Ghana has been to finals on three times after their last trophy, losing to the Ivory Coast on penalties in 1992 and 2015 and were beaten 1-0 by Egypt in Angola 2010.
