Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan has picked up an injury and will not report to the Black Stars camp for the FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against Zimbabwe in early October.
It is unknown the exact injury sustained by the Fiorentina ace, but reports claim he has contacted the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to confirm his unavailability for the crucial games.
Head coach Milovan Rajevac is said to have decided to replace Duncan with midfielder Edmund Addo, based in Moldova and has been trending this week after playing an impressive role in FC Sheriff shock win over Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Duncan was included in the 32-man provisional squad announced on Monday, a reward for his strong start to the season in Italy.
The midfielder has moved from being on Fiorentina’s transfer list to becoming an integral member of the team.
He has played in Fiorentina’s last five games and delivered impressive performances despite the mixed results for the club.
Duncan is currently ranked as the second-fastest player in the Italian Serie after clocking a speed of 34km/hr.
The Black Stars will take on the Warriors on Tuesday, October 12 at the Cape Coast stadium on matchday three of the qualifiers before travelling to Harare three days later for the reverse fixture.
