The Black Stars of Ghana are set to release their squad today for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon next month.
Head Coach Milovan Rajevac has already presented his squad to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and an announcement is expected prior to the start of pre-AFCON camp.
The four times African champions begin preparation on the 22nd of December at the United Arab Emirates.
Coach Milovan has named 26 men for the squad. This is his final selection before the tournament, which starts in January 2022.
Due to the COVID-19 effect, CAF has approved the increase in the number of participants for the event from 23 up to 28.
Ghana is included in Group C along with Morocco, Comoros Island, and Gabon at the AFCON 2021.
“In the occasion of the upcoming final tournament of the TOTALENERGIES Africa Cup of Nations – Cameroon 2021, we would like to provide you with the following decision: number of additional players – the Organizing Committee of the Africa Cup of Nations has decided to increase the number of players to 5 additional players. Consequently, the list of players could be increased to a maximum of 28 players. This decision was taken to allow the participating teams have a larger squad list for the competition in case some players test positive for COVID 19,” a statement on CAF’s website read.
