“Ghanaians Made A Mistake By Trying Akufo-Addo As President, He’s A Failure” – Captain Smart Fires (Video)

According to Captain Smart, the impunity and infringement on the rights of others under the current administration makes it a mistake for trying Nana Addo at the presidency.

Article 12[2] in Chapter 5 of Ghana’s Constitution states: “Every person in Ghana, whatever his race, place of origin, political opinion, colour, religion, creed or gender shall be entitled to the fundamental human rights and freedoms of the individual contained in this Chapter but subject to respect for the rights and freedoms of others and for the public interest.”

The above article is what the host of the Smart Show on Smart TV, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, says has lost its spirit considering the non-adherence to it for the ordinary Ghanaian.

The controversial presenter is of the view that the impunity that has engulfed the country under the Akufo-Addo led government contradicts what he preached in opposition.

He says whilst others are trampling on the rights of others without facing any punishment, the government itself is trampling on the same rights of others who criticise them.

The murder of JB Danquah, Ahmed Suale, Kaaka, interspersed with journalists being silenced for speaking their minds according to Captain Smart is a clear indication that Ghana’s Constitution was drafted to protect only the aristocrats without the interest of the masses.

He says the lack of evidential action being meted out to perpetrators of such heinous crimes –even though some people are purported to be under trial for such offences — defeats Article 13[1] which says “No person shall be deprived of his life intentionally except in the exercise of the execution of a sentence of a court in respect of a criminal offence under the laws of Ghana of which he has been convicted.”

Additionally, what some citizens have termed the culture of silence pertaining to the dismissal and suspension of some media personnel and attack on people who criticise

the government, together with the above is what makes Captain Smart refer to President Akufo-Addo’s leadership as a big mistake.

Prior to the 2016 elections, then-candidate Akufo-Addo pleaded with Ghanaians to try him and see what he can also offer. It is upon this backdrop that the TV and radio presenter says his plea for trial at the presidency is a mistake Ghanaians should never repeat.

“Why did the NPP government make them (Happy FM) sack Okatakyie? That lady at Kingdom FM [Roselyn Abbey a.k.a MP Nie], myself at Angel, why did Rawlings [made people] sprinkle faeces at Kwaku Baako’s office? JB Danquah, Ahmed Suale, Kaaka have all died in vain. We made a mistake by trying Nana Addo and we are not going to try anyone again,” he narrated.

Speaking further, he alleged some traditional authorities soiled their integrity by taking vehicles from the government, for which reason they cannot speak despite the mishaps in the country which they’re all not content with.

“The Paramount chiefs in Ghana are angry but because they took cars, they can’t talk. The NPP has become intolerant that whoever opens his mouth gets attacked. Ken Agyapong told Omanhene [on Adom TV] that he doesn’t know why he joined such a foolish party called the NPP,” he alleged.
